Why are sounds repeated?

For each pitch, we try quieter and louder settings, then look for at least two responses in three upward approaches to the same level. The number of sounds varies with your responses; it is not three sounds per pitch. At the quietest and loudest limits we repeat to check the boundary. If no level settles after 40 sounds, that pitch is marked “Not confirmed” so you can repeat it separately.
